Monet at the Grand Palais

Paris is the city which rejected Monet twice – once in the 19th century for being too radical, and once in the 20th century for not being radical enough! Now, however, Parisians are queuing for hors(sic) to see a major new exhibition of the painter's work.

The Parisian art critic – Louis Leroy - first coined the term “impressionism” as an insult to disparage the paintings shown in the ground-breaking exhibition of 1874.
